Are you often stumped when buying Christmas presents for people who really really do not want any more 'clutter' or socks, shower gel or scented candles?

I have almost finished my Christmas shopping for this year and I often buy charity gifts and like to receive them myself. Somehow I think this matters now more than ever in 2015. I found The Good Gifts website a useful guide full of information laid out in a clear concise manner.

As the website states-  'Too many people do tit-for-tat giving at Christmas, the usual result is unwanted tat. Instead, give a gift to charity in someone's name – then you know your money is actually paying for something that will be used.'

It is very important that the money spent on a charity gift goes to the recipient it was bought for. There are many websites which sell charity gifts and they can be a minefield to choose from.

I found The Good Gifts website a useful guide full of information laid out in a clear concise manner. There are so many charity gifts to chosse from.Their commitment states:-

'The Good Gifts Catalogue was born 12 years ago, a refreshing alternative to conventional unwanted presents.

We were guided by 2 commitments: first, that every Good Gift was always wanted. And second when you buy a Good Gift, your money buys the actual gift.'

Over 12 years, our commitments have never wavered. In fact, we’re delighted, that more and more people choose Good Gifts in order to target their charitable giving with more accuracy

The choice is wide and varied in price from feeding an abandoned cat or dog, buying a blanket for an elderly or homeless person, through to buying a 100 acre reserve or training an African eye surgeon. You can even buy a bull!

Someone I know is not buying Christmas presents this year as money is very tight, but she has started to give blood and feels that this is her way of 'giving something back.'  And of course, this will continue into next year, not just for Christmas. What a good idea!

This is my last blog for 2015, but normal service resumes on January 2nd 2016. I hope you all have a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy New Year.
