I have had a busy and unusual week, but a very satisfying one!

On Tuesday, I was thrilled to go to J D Wetherspoon in Hereford, The Kings Fee and have my photo taken with the manager Ugo . Why you may ask? I am proud to be in the latest issue of Wetherspoon magazine promoting OAPSchat! A professional photographer called Gillian Evans came up from London last month to take the photograph of me for inclusion in the magazine. I was a bit nervous, but it all went smoothly!

Ugo, manager of The Kings Fee, Hereford happy to be photographed with  me and the latest Wetherspoon magazine

I hope that the website will reach out to even more people now as the magazine is read by 2 MILLION people!!

On Wednesday I became a year older and enjoyed a day in Ludlow for my birthday. Derek and I caught the train for the short 30 minute journey from Hereford. Ludlow is a super town with a castle, many buildings dating back to 16th century and a variety of pubs and restaurants. We enjoyed lunch in Ye Olde Bull Ring Tavern which dates back to the 14th century! The weather was extremely cold with a biting wind, but the sun obliged every so often and we made use of its' presence for the photos to share with you!

Who Am I?

Hi, my name is Janice and I am the founder of www.OAPSchat.co.uk.This stands for Optimistic and ProActive Seniors Chat. OAPSchat was born in April 2013 as a Facebook page. To date there are over 1427 FB likes. It was in November 2013 that I decided I had enough material and confidence to launch the website.

Since that day, I have been writing articles on all kinds of topics. ranging from hobbies, holidays, food and drink, memories, families, finance and much much more. I now have over one hundred and twenty two wonderful contributors to date and articles on all different subjects are posted on a daily basis. Over 1330 articles can be read now! Members can comment via disqus, FB and Twitter.

Raffles are held monthly, sometimes more often. A newsletter goes out once a month with my plans for the coming weeks. I am an Independent Happy List Winner 2014 for founding the website.

Loneliness is a big scourge on our society worldwide and the website helps combat this awful isolation by coming together and sharing our thoughts and ideas. OAPSchat is well and truly born now and I hope it will continue to thrive. With your support, I'm confident it will!
