You are never too old have a go at something different, that’s what I try and tell myself.
I’ve always enjoyed being outside, walking, cycling, even roller blading, but of late I’ve not just been pounding the keyboard on my latest book, but the streets as well! I’ve now managed to run 10km and recently I decided to run a 10km run for Cancer Research UK – Run for Life
Set our watches
I’ve seen that events for Run For Life are taking place all over the UK, but as I don’t live there these days, I decided to do one of my own here on the island! I know it is hot here now, but ignoring the heat I invited my two wonderful running friends, Sabrina and Susan and although our abilities and ages differ (mid-thirties, mid-fifties and early sixties) we hit the pavements running on Saturday 20th June and completed our 10km charity run / walk. And to add more excitement to this our Just Giving Page already has £430 and more is expected to be added too!
We have been overwhelmed with support from so many people and are honoured and humbled at everyone’s generosity. Sadly, this dreadful disease has a nasty habit of affecting everyone in one way or another. So if putting on our trainers and legging it will help make a difference, then we’ll do it all over again ☺
Sabrina, Susan and me!
As for continuing my running, the answer is yes! I’m now training for a half marathon, 21km and who knows one day I just might make the full marathon!
You have to set the bar as high as possible sometimes and I promise to let you know how it all goes. And just in case you are wondering on which age group I fall into, I am the one on the right of this photo.
