Corkers crisps

Sponsored Content

Have you heard of Corkers crisps? I have to admit that I hadn't until I saw packets on sale on an Easy Jet flight from Portugal!

So, I wanted to find out more after I had tasted their sea salt flavoured ones and was very impressed!

Best friends Rod Garnham and Ross Taylor came up with the idea for Corkers Crisps in 2010 and since that date their crisps have won numerous awards. The Taylor family have been farming in Ely Cambridgeshire and have been growing potatoes since the 1800s. Their own Naturalo potato brand which is used to make Corkers crisps is only grown in Cambridgeshire on their family farm so is unique. Please see the website for some really interesting facts and statistics ranging from  good taste awards, a world record and even sending crisps into space!

Crokers are also involved with many charity events.

So, down to business, the important tasting test for each variety I have been sent!

CRISPS

 Sea Salt

Corkers crisps

Many people like to eat 'good old fashioned plain crisps' and I have to admit that this flavour certainly takes me back to my childhood when a certain well known brand used to put a small sachet of salt in their plain crisps. These are infinitely superior to those from 1960 though! Perfect for any time of the day.

Sea Salt and Cider Vinegar

Corkers crisps

These are another classic flavour, but somehow Corkers manage to balance the salt and vinegar equally with each bite. Very moorish! Definitely on my shopping list!

 Sweet Thai Chilli

Corkers crisps

Wow! The chilli certainly comes through with this flavour! Quite hot, but perhaps an aquired taste for some. I know my sons will love these crisps!

 Pork Sausage and English Mustard

Corkers crisps

This flavour is definitely a 'first' for me! A completely original taste and one that I can see being very popular at outdoor barbeques and going down well with hot dogs, burgers etc. If you love your cooked sausages with mustard, you will love these crisps!

Cheddar Cheese and Chive

Corkers crisps

Forget the popular brands of cheese and onion crisps which smell overpowering and are mostly tasteless, this is what a good cheese and (onion, okay, chive!) crisp should taste like. I LOVE this flavour and you will be back for more!

Duck and Hoisin Sauce

Corkers crisps

This is certainly a first for me as a crisp flavour! If I am honest, I cannot really say that I like this flavour. This could be because I am not a fan of Chinese food. However, my friend who is a big fan of duck and Chinese food loved them and will certainly be buying them.

Sea Salt and Black Pepper

Corkers crisps

Another winner in my book, the taste of salt and pepper comes through with every mouthful. Certainly a great accompaniment to pre dinner snacks and will go down a treat at outdoor picnics etc.

Parsnip with Honey and Black Pepper

Corkers crisps

I was a bit dubious about these flavours together in a crisp, but they work with roast parsnips, so I tried these with interest. Superb was the first word that came to mind. I LOVE these!!

Sweet Potato, Parsnip, Carrot and Beetroot

Corkers crisps

What a fab combination! All four vegetables blend really well together and the flavours of each vegetable come through with each bite. Another winner!

Sweet Potato and Chilli

Corkers crisps

Whoever thought of this combination has a winner in my book. These crisps would be great to serve as an appetiser at a dinner party, especially if you are trying to impress your guests! Whilst I struggled with the sweet Thai chilli flavored crisps, there is a great balance between the sweet ptato flavour and the chilli.

POPCORN

Sea Salt

Corkers popcorn

Gourmet popcorn has come a long way in the last few years and I have tried various companies products. I LOVE the way savoury flavours can be incorporated into popcorn and Corkers have succeeded in producing a super tasting variety here.
