 How long have you been working here?

I have been here for three years.

How many staff work here?

Ten, including the post office staff.

What incentives do I have to shop here?

The opening hours are 6am - 8pm Monday through to Saturday and 7am - 7pm on a Sunday. The offers are very good, we are a friendly local shop and the staff are always ready to help. We treat our customers as individuals. There is plenty of parking. Newspapers are delivered seven days a week.

How many offers to you have running at any one time?

Thirty to thirty five.

How long do the offers last for?

Four to five weeks.

What are your best selling lines?

Toilet rolls and alcohol products. On a Sunday, Yorkshire puddings, sugar, potatoes, milk and flour.

Will you order for customers if they require?

Yes. I will do my best to find any product a customer needs.

How much do you charge to deliver newspapers?

£2 for seven days, 25p per day, Monday through to Friday, 35p on a Saturday and 40p on a Sunday.

Does the Post office help to boost your sales?

Yes, definitely. Their customers often stop to buy papers and groceries when they have been to the Post Office.

Is there a good community spirit?

Yes, we always look out for our regular customers. For instance, if we have not seen one of them for some time, we will make enquiries after their health and well being.

Which part of your job do you like best?

Being with the customers and chatting to them.

Who Am I?

Hi, my name is Janice and I am the founder of www.OAPSchat.co.uk.This stands for Optimistic and ProActive Seniors Chat. OAPSchat was born in April 2013 as a Facebook page. To date there are over 1362 FB likes. It was in November 2013 that I decided I had enough material and confidence to launch the website.

Since that day, I have been writing articles on all kinds of topics. ranging from hobbies, holidays, food and drink, memories, families, finance and much much more. I now have over one hundred and twenty two wonderful contributors to date and articles on all different subjects are posted on a daily basis. Over 1040 articles can be read now! Members can comment via disqus, FB and Twitter.

Raffles are held monthly, sometimes more often. A newsletter goes out once a month with my plans for the coming weeks. I am an Independent Happy List Winner 2014 for founding the website.

Loneliness is a big scourge on our society worldwide and the website helps combat this awful isolation by coming together and sharing our thoughts and ideas. OAPSchat is well and truly born now and I hope it will continue to thrive. With your support, I'm confident it will!
