The name A.Vogel may not be familiar to some of us here in the UK.  I am a big believer in echinacea and buy one of their cold remedies.

Alfred Vogel was Switzerland's most celebrated naturopath and herbalist. Born in 1902 and living until the age of 94. To this day his work is being carried on and the A.Vogel website gives us an insight into this fascinating man's work and the places he has travelled to all over the world. The below sentences are taken from the website.

Nature gives us everything we need to protect and maintain our health The Swiss pioneer of natural health, Alfred Vogel, dedicated his whole life to achieving recognition for naturopathy and herbal medicine. Good health depends on the harmonious interplay of many factors – a balanced lifestyle, psychological well-being, vitality, sufficient exercise, a healthy diet and natural remedies. This principle is reflected in the A.Vogel product range.

I have been sent a few of the many products from A.Vogel to evaluate and would like to share my findings with you. There are 179 to view and purchase from the website!

Whether you have digestion problems, menopause issues, hay fever, colds and flu, dietary requirements, stress and many more conditions, there may be something here for you to ease the symptoms you are experiencing.

Echinaforce®Chewable Cold & Flu Tablets

A Vogel article

I have always been a fan of Echinacia remedies and I find that if you start to take the product BEFORE a cold is in full flow, there is a better result. Made from freshly harvested Echinacea purpurea herb and root in an easy to swallow orange flavoured tablet, these are suitable for adults and children over twelve years old. A favourite of mine and touch wood, I haven't had a bad cold now for nearly two years! (Crosses fingers!!!) As soon as my symptoms start, I take the chewable tablets which not only taste good, but are great value at £5.25 for 40 tablets or £9.45 for 80.

Atrosan Devil's Claw Tablets

Atrosan tabs A Vogel

I have used Devil's Claw products over the years and find the tablets are good for many joint pains especially as we age. The website states that this is 'A licensed herbal rheumatism product made from extracts of Devil’s Claw herb cultivated in the Kalahari without the use of artificial fertilisers, insecticides or fungicides. It can be used for joint pain and to reduce symptoms of back pain or other rheumatism pains in the shoulders and elbows, or for knee and other joint pains.'

I have used A.Vogel Atrosan tablets for one month now and can say that my joints are not aching as much as they normally do once the onset of winter starts. Not suitable for anyone under the age of 18 years and if you have a heart problem, see your doctor before taking this product. Retailing at £9.99 for 30 tablets or £17.65 for 60, they may prove a touch expensive for some. However, if you find relief by only needing one tablet per day, that works out at around £2.50 per week.

Atrogel Arnica Gel

Atrogel A Vogel

Arnica, wonderful arnica! I have used this product for as long as I can remember. My late mother was also a big fan and when I worked in Pharmacy, I always recommended this to people especially for bruising. But did you know it is also good for pain relief? As the website states:

Atrogel® is a herbal remedy made from extracts of fresh Arnica flowers and is an easy-to-apply non-greasy gel.  I have always used Arnica for bruising and excellent results are obtained. It is ideal if you are looking for a treatment to relieve pain in conditions such as muscle aches or pains, stiffness or after sporting injuries. It can be used up to 4 times a day.

Containing the fresh herb extract of Arnica Montana flower heads, Arnica is suitable from the age of 2 years old, making it a great addition to your medicine cupboard.  Other points of interest are that it acts at the start of inflammatory cascade by switching off a substance known as NF-kB(1) It is shown to be as effective as ibuprofen gel in arthritis of the fingers(2) Swift action No reduction in efficacy with long-term use / no contraindications Suitable for all inflammatory conditions, from arthritic aches and pains to sports injuries.

Retailing at £6.75 for 50ml or £9.99 for 100ml I think this is excellent value for money.

Pollinosan Luffa Nasal Spray

AVogel hay fever article

Fortunately I do not suffer from Hay Fever, but both my sons do. It seems that we have 'lost' our seasons somewhat and sneezing and coughing (typical hay fever symptoms) can happen at any time. Many people also have allergies such as allergic rhinitis or are allergic to pets and dsutmites. The spray A.Vogel sells is very effective. No more prescription medicines for my two sons now! Priced very competitively at £7.99 for 20ml, another good addition for the medicine cabinet!

Eye Drops

Avogel eye drops

I have written about how effective these are previously. See here. I am on my computer for around 8-10 hours per day and do get very tired eyes. Using these drops certainly help and I can highly recommend them.Costing £9.40 for 10ml, this may seem a little dear, but they do last for three months after opening.

A.Vogel cater for so many conditions and even sell BioSnacky packs including a superfood pack and a salad pack which I am keen to try!

Just what you need to give a delectable tang to your salads, as well as providing you with vitamins and minerals in a natural raw food state. The White Radish in Gourmet and Mild Aromatic mixes provides a healthy kick to the taste buds, whilst the gently nutty flavour of Mug bean sprouts and Alfalfa sprouts gives epicurean interest alongside the nutrients they provide.

If you suffer from sleep, stress and anxiety problems, there are excellent reviews for the products that can help. It may be worth ordering one or more to see if you can be helped with your condition(s).

As stated above, the website is so informative and I have certainly learnt a lot from reading and using the products that work for me. A list of stockists can also be found by placing your postcode in the relevant box should you not wish to order online. Independent healthstores, Holland & Barrett, selected pharmacies and Boots all stock A.Vogel products.

I have enjoyed evaluating these products and hope that you have found the article and the excellent website informative and interesting!
