EVERYONE DESERVES A SECOND CHANCE, don’t they? That is the question ANNA is asking herself when FREDDY unexpectedly comes back into her life.
Out now in paperback or on kindle
They had a brief but intense romance ten years ago but it all ended in a bitter misunderstanding. Is it too late to persuade him she is the one for him?
Probably, she has to admit to herself because
“As far as CHICK-LIT was concerned she was well over the hill. Perhaps there was a category for Old Hen-lit?”
Anna has made a new life for herself running Knightsfield, a manor house now used as a conference centre but she’s never forgotten Freddy. Briefly her hopes are raised when he, now a garden designer, is contracted to carry out a televised conversion at the Knightsfield estate – a year long project.
Unfortunately Freddy now has a young slim and sassy Anna’s not even sure what this means) girlfriend who also happens to be the granddaughter of her elderly employers who depend on Anna to run their business.
Because she can’t let them down Anna has to stay to watch the growing romance between Freddy and his new girlfriend
She soothes her ruffled sensibilities with chocolate and a new hairstyle. She’s also flattered by the attentions of two much younger men. Anna’s not sure if she’s ready to take on a toy boy but the opportunity is flattering.
As the year progresses the story unfolds against the backdrop of Knightsfield
Well-meaning friends, embarrassing relatives, concerned employers, ailing staff, a grumpy cameraman and even the family dog, all play their part. How will it all be resolved and will there be a second chance for a happy ending, maybe more than one?
If you see a connection between How Could She Persuade Him and Jane Austen’s book, Persuasion the author will be very flattered. It is her favourite Jane Austen and the title and main character’s names are inspired by that book although the main story and outcomes are quite different.
