Yes, we followed our guides all around Tuscany and then the Adriatic. It was certainly a holiday to remember. My husband had never been on a cruise and as my experience of cruising left me many happy memories, I thought we could create even more.

I have always wanted to visit Florence and Tuscany and the trip we chose began with four nights there before we joined the ship for our cruise. The main square in Florence was a joy, the statues and the buildings were beautiful but the whole place was teeming with visitors being led, rather like sheep, by guides saying " Follow me pliz " in many different languages.

We took a trip to Pisa and the crowds were even larger there and the heat was getting more intense but inside the church was really lovely especially the ornate pulpit

On the fourth morning, we arose early for the coach journey to Venice where we would be boarding our ship, The Norwegian Jade but we were able to have a look around Venice before leaving. Phil and I have both been there before so after a little stroll, we found a small restaurant a bit off the beaten track , where we enjoyed an excellent meal.

We all met by the Grand Canal and boarded a water taxi which took us to our home for the next ten days.

The size of the ship came as a bit of a shock, we hadn't realised it was so large, it was even more of a shock when we found it was actually an American ship, I thought it was Norwegian, well with a name like that, it was an easy mistake to make!

Our cabin was great, with a huge king size bed, a nice shower and loo and a fair sized balcony. Everything was spotless, as you would expect. Our steward introduced himself and explained how to contact him if we needed anything. In fact all the crew we had met were very friendly and helpful.

We fell into bed that evening, dead tired but looking forward to our next port of call which was to be Dubrovnic, a lovely place I had visited before and was keen to see again.

Who Am I?

I am living on the border of Herefordshire and Worcestershire, on the slopes of the lovely Malvern Hills with my second husband. We have been married for just over two years.

I originated in Hampshire where I was married and had two children. My first husband died six years ago after a long illness.

I am now 77 and have been retired since I turned 60. I was working for Social Services and a Care Manager in Portsmouth. Previously I was a Home Care Manager in Havant.

I have four grown up Grandchildren of whom I am very proud. I also have a very elderly cat who helped me through the difficult times after my first husband died. We have both settled very well in our new home.
