MONDAY Sept 22nd

Today was an exciting one, for Derek and I were going to meet fellow Opaschatters, Dorothy Roberts and her husband Ken!

We caught a train from Talsarnau to Tywyn which took one and a half hrs. At 11.30am  Dorothy and Ken were waiting on the station platform to greet us. After a cup of tea and a sandwich in the station cafe, Dorothy came on the Talyllyn Steam train journey with us from Tywyn to Nant Gwernol and back. We passed through Pendre, Rhydyronen, Brynglas, Dolgoch, Abergynolwyn and Nant Gwernol.

What Fabulous Views!

Dorothy and I talked non stop and felt like we had known each other for ages!  Derek took photos and marvelled at the way the train is able to climb so well. After a twenty minute break at Nant Gwernol, we made our way back to Tywyn.  Ken was there to meet us and we went to their bungalow for a cup of tea and to exchange phone numbers.

Dorothy and Me Getting To Know One Another!

All too soon, it was time for Derek and I to catch our diesel train back to Talsarnau and make our way back to our cottage. A great day out in glorious sunshine and new friendships forged. If anyone fancies a ride on this great narrow guage railway, I certainly recommend it!
