I thought I had escaped the 'lurgy.' The lurgy has other ideas. I have been without my 'voice' since Sunday! I am still coughing and sneezing and it is indeed a nuisance. So many people that I know have illnesses. Roll on Spring!

Last weekend Derek and I went to Upper Lydbrook in Gloucestershire for a short break. We stayed at an excellent guesthouse, Ferndale House.
Everywhere was spotlessly clean and we were made very welcome by superb hosts Andy and Christine. Free wi-fi was provided and a delicious breakfast was enjoyed on Sunday morning.
We only wished we had booked for more than one night! If you are looking to stay at a B and B in the Forest of Dean, you won't be disappointed with Ferndale House!
Home made muffins greeted us as a welcome gesture.
Ready for a night out!
All spruced up!
We went to Speech House Hotel for our evening meal and both enjoyed lamb rump with all the trimmings and a glass of merlot complimented the dish perfectly. The dining room looked as though it was the ideal setting for a medieval banquet. If you ever want to try a meal here, I can recommend it.

Main course of rump of lamb - delicious!
On Sunday morning, I lost my voice, hard to believe I know, but no words would come out, so a very quiet breakfast was eaten and then a long walk planned in the Forest of Dean. We actually managed just over three miles, (My fitbit confirmed this!)

All ready for a walk in the morning sunshine - albeit a quiet one!!
Cold Derek??
Hopefully next week will see a return to my normal chatty self and Derek won't have so much peace! Have a good week everyone and see you next Saturday.
