Joy L poem

Here are three short poems to start off 2016. I hope you enjoy reading them.

Joy L Crane

A DIFFERENT CONCEPT

Non-feathered cranes crank and whirr –
more elegant counterparts long since flown…
The sea is but a glimmering azure sliver!
Wild, yellow Bermuda buttercups join their roots.
An aged olive tree’s
grey-green leaves gasp;
a sickly child pants;
ghosts of lovers
seek fresh playgrounds…
Others’ dreams rise into the cobalt-blue sky.

 LITTLE SPARROW

Small, so small...
so similar to others of my ilk –
almost a feathered clone.
No human voice to articulate –
no hands to murder, or create,
YET I feel such boundless joy
as I fly through air like silk.

 P E A C E

Peace
is as fragile
as filigree lace
and a butterfly’s wing.

Peace
should be indestructible
solid
obese.
