Pukka Tea

Sponsored Content

Are you a lover of herbal teas? Once considered a 'fad' by many, more and more of us are buying different varieties of tea.

The latest figures I can find from 2015 show that the industry has reported huge increases both here in the UK and in the USA

So, with the vast array now on sale in supermarkets and health food shops, plus also being available in hotel restaurants, bedrooms, conference rooms etc, it seems we all have a 'taste' for herbal teas!

I have tried various brands, but I keep coming back to Pukka. Why is this?  The sachets are individually wrapped to maintain their freshness and quality. I like the way its founders Sebastian Pole and Tim Westwell have built up the company from its launch in 2001. They are both passionate people who care deeply about the planet.  Do read about their range of teas and Sebastian and Tim's stories on the website by clicking on the links above. Pukka not only sell teas, but also a wide range of herbal products too.

I have been sent 5 packs of tea to evaluate and would like to share my findings with you.

Blackcurrant Beauty

Pukka Tea

I have not tried this flavour before. Blackcurrants and beetroot combined with hibiscus flowers, rosehip and orange peel are the ingredients. Really refreshing and revitalising. Good to drink at any time of the day.

Ginseng Matcha Green

Pukka tea

I often buy green tea for my family. My sons drink it regularly. I must admit that I am not a fan- YET! However drinking this blend has changed my mind, maybe it is the ginger and lemon flavours that come through. The high quality powdered matcha green tea is gaining in popularity. As the Pukka website states 'Recent research has shown that one cup of matcha has 100 times the antioxidants compared to green tea (and green has about double the levels found in black tea).' That in itself is a good enough reason to drink this blend daily!

Turmeric Gold

Pukka tea

Isn't this a fab name for a packet of tea?! Turmeric has been in the news a lot lately and judging by the list of health benefits, this is certainly a tea to embrace. Read about the many benefits here. I have used turmeric in cooking, but did not realise just how good this herb is for our well being. If you are suffering from IBS, you may find this tea helps soothe your digestive system. It is also reported to be good at reducing inflamation. I am going to drink this tea frequently and with its lemon and cardomom flavours, is a very pleasant drink.

Detox

Pukka Detox

We all need a good 'clear out' now and again don't we? Pukka Detox tea with its aniseed, fennel and cardamom tastes really clean and fresh. If you are giving your system a rest from stodgy and bloat inducing food, try this tea for a few days to accompany your detox diet. I love the taste.

Elderberry and Echinacea is a super combination of echinacea root, elderberry, beetroot, aniseed, licorice root, ginger root, plus natural flavours of orange, peppermint, acerola juice and orange essential oil! I like to drink this when I am feeling stressed, somewhow the flavours calm.

Lemon, Ginger and Manuka Honey has to be one of my all time favourite Pukka teas and a great one to have first thing in the morning. As well as the three main ingredients, there are licorice root, elderflower, fennel seed, lemon verbena leaf and turmeric root. I also love drinking this tea when I have a sore throat or a cold.

Night Time  As a poor sleeper, I am always on the look out for a magic ingredient to promote sleep. Ingredients in this tea are chamomile, lavender, limeflower and valerian. I do drink this tea last thing in the evening. As yet, it has not resulted in a full nights sleep, but I think it does have a calming influence and I do miss it if I am away and forgotten to pack some!
