Swollen feet is a condition that affects people of all ages for all sorts of reasons. It can be caused by foot and ankle injuries, pregnancy, medical conditions, the side effects of medication and even by hot weather.

You'd think that as it's such a common problem there'd be plenty of footwear to choose from but the truth is, finding anything to fit swollen feet can be a bit of a nightmare. It's not something that the average shoe shop seems to cater for. This can make for a very frustrating experience, with people having to buy shoes that are far too big for them just to get the extra width and depth they need.

That's where a company called Cosyfeet may be able to help. Based in Somerset, the mail order business started over 30 years ago with a simple idea – to make footwear for men and women who couldn't find shoes to fit because their feet were exceptionally wide or swollen.

To begin with, their designs were relatively basic. They produced a small collection of slippers along with a couple of Velcro-fastening shoes. Over the years they've developed their range, embracing the latest footwear colours and trends, whilst still maintaining their extra roomy fitting.

Swollen feet can still look stylish!

As their shoe designer Nick Brown comments: "Many of our customers suffer from very swollen feet but they still want to look stylish. They don't want to wear footwear that looks medical, ugly or bulky. Our biggest challenge is to design quality, comfortable footwear that is fashionable and aesthetically pleasing whilst not compromising on the width and depth."

Slippers still play an important part in what Cosyfeet has to offer. As well as snuggly styles for winter, they have a collection of cotton-rich slippers which are ideal for wearing in the summer and can double up as sandals.

Cosyfeet also has a range of extra roomy socks and hosiery. They're made with lots more room in the leg and foot part so they won't pinch or restrict circulation, making them ideal for fitting swollen feet and legs.

For people who don't have swollen feet but simply want comfortable feet, Cosyfeet has a collection of high-quality, standard-fitting socks and hosiery.
