Carol Hedges poster talk event

I am delighted to be promoting this event for one of our super contributors.

If you live in or near St Albans and would like to see Carol, she will be at the Oxfam Bookshop, 8- 10 Catherine Street, St Albans on July 5th between 7.30 - 8.30pm

Carol Hedges is the successful author of fifteen novels for teenagers and adults.

Her books have been shortlisted for various prizes: her YA novel Jigsaw was long-listed for the Carnegie Medal and her historical novel Diamonds & Dust was listed for the 2013 CWA Historical Dagger.

Carol is a cancer survivor, a vintage car driver, a cat owner and a doting grandma. She is currently writing the fifth book in her Victorian Crime series about the two London detectives Stride & Cully. She blogs on her website and posts on Facebook and Twitter about her life, her writing and minding her small granddaughter.

Carol will be taking her audience on a journey back to 1860’s London to visit the sights, sounds and people of the past. She will talk about how she researches, writes, publishes and publicizes her books and will be answering questions from the audience. There will be an opportunity to buy signed copies at the end of the event.

Tickets on the door £2.

I would definitely go if I didn't live so far away! I do hope the evening will be a huge success.

Who Am I?

Hi, my name is Janice and I am the founder of stands for Optimistic and ProActive Seniors Chat. OAPSchat was born in April 2013 as a Facebook page. To date there are over 1460 FB likes. It was in November 2013 that I decided I had enough material and confidence to launch the website.

Since that day, I have been writing articles on all kinds of topics. ranging from hobbies, holidays, food and drink, memories, families, finance and much much more. I now have over one hundred and thirty seven wonderful contributors to date and articles on all different subjects are posted on a daily basis. Over 1400 articles can be read now! Members can comment via disqus, FB and Twitter.

Raffles are held monthly, sometimes more often. A newsletter goes out once a month with my plans for the coming weeks. I am an Independent Happy List Winner 2014 for founding the website.

Loneliness is a big scourge on our society worldwide and the website helps combat this awful isolation by coming together and sharing our thoughts and ideas. OAPSchat is well and truly born now and I hope it will continue to thrive. With your support, I'm confident it will!
