There is an oasis of peace not far from where I live. It is a Complimentary Therapy and Natural Beauty Centre called Beautonics in Old Eign Hill, Hereford owned by Wendy Mills. Wendy has very kindly agreed to be my guest today and answer some questions.
How long have you been trading?
How many therapists work here?
2 Beauty Therapists, 2 Receptionists/Nail Technicians and 2 Independent Practitioners (Acupuncturist and Chiropodist/Podiatrist)
What are your most popular treatments?
Waxing, Manicures and Pedicures, Massage and Facials.
Do you find that more men are now looking after themselves better compared to ten years ago?
Yes generally, but in Hereford men don't tend to come in for grooming treatments, more for massage and having things done 'that put things right' so to speak.
What are your opening hours?
Monday 9.30 to 5.30, Tuesday to Thursday 9.30 to 7.00, Friday 9.30 to 5.30 and Saturdays 9.30 to 2.00.
Do you have any special offers on at the moment?
We usually run a special monthly promotion, full details of which can be found on our website.
Have you always wanted to be a therapist?
Not really. I was a Registered Nurse for 23 years before I came into this profession. But about 15 years ago I realised that nursing wasn't what it was and decided to re-train in Beauty Therapy and some Complementary Therapies. My heart lies with the complementary therapies because of my nursing background.
How do you spend your time relaxing?
Reading historical novels and going to the theatre when time permits. Having a monthly No Hands Massage.
What advice can you give on healthy mind and body issues?
Where would I start? This is such a big issue and I do give advice in my monthly newsletters on different subjects. But I guess the main thing I would say is that there is no quick fix for anything, despite everyone being in such a rush these days. Slow down and make the most of every experience, good or bad, this is what shapes your character. Have patience with complementary therapies and you will reap the rewards.
Do you have any future plans for Beautonics in 2014?
Things have been tough for everyone economically over the last few years, and Im just glad that we are still here going strong.I want to continue giving a first class service to the people of Hereford and beyond. We already have an excellent reputation for our waxing and massage, I would like to develop our facial menu more.
Thank you very much Wendy, before I go, I must make my appointment for next week.
